Director (Independent Contractor) | Meagher County Chamber of Commerce

Contract Type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Estimated Time Commitment: Approx 4 hours per week
Compensation: $500 Monthly Stipend

Application Period: February 20th – March 2nd.

*Interviews will be scheduled for sometime between March 9th and March 23rd

*The contracted position will be awarded between March 24th and April 7th  

*Contract will be begin April 8th and span through at least the 2nd week of February 2027. Annual contract renewal will be considered each February. 

Position Overview

The Director is responsible for the digital presence and organizational heartbeat of the Meagher County Chamber of Commerce. The role supports the Chamber’s visibility, member promotion, and community engagement through consistent digital communication and content creation. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual who is passionate about local business and possesses strong creative skills in social media and digital communication.

 

Core Responsibilities

1. Digital Marketing & Content Creation

  • Quarterly Newsletters: Design and distribute emails to website subscribers including:

    • The Quarterly Calendar of Events

    • Business updates (openings, closures, milestones).

    • Added Value: Member spotlights, seasonal "Shop Local" guides, and community resources.

  • Social Media Management:

    • Create one original post weekly and one original Reel monthly.

    • Strategically re-post one chamber member update (from their Facebook page) per week to support local businesses.

  • Video Production: Use video editing tools to create engaging, high-quality Reels that showcase Meagher County’s unique charm.

2. Website & Calendar Management

  • Annual Website Audits:

    • February 1st: Ensure all annual events are updated and accurate.

    • April 1st: Complete a full update of the Chamber Members directory.

  • Strategic Planning: Attend all Chamber meetings to manage the Content Calendar & Task Calendar. Schedule post dates for all events (including recurring annual events) and act as the "reminder" for the board when content is due.

3. Administrative

  • Administrative Coordination: Provide a brief monthly summary to the Board outlining completed content, member features, event promotion posts, and website or newsletter updates. 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Platform Proficiency: Comfortable  with Facebook and Instagram (including Stories and Reels).

  • Design Tools: High proficiency in Canva for creating professional graphics and flyers.

  • Video Editing: Experience with CapCut, Instagram Edits, or similar software to produce clean, engaging video content.

  • Digital Communication: Experience with email marketing platforms and basic website maintenance.

  • Organization: The ability to look weeks and months ahead on a calendar and stay on top of recurring deadlines, relaying important dates to other members of the Chamber.

  • Local Knowledge: A strong understanding of the Meagher County business landscape and community culture.

  • Local Engagement: Maintain familiarity with local businesses, events, and community activities to ensure accurate and timely promotion.

 

Independent Contractor Status
The Director operates as an independent contractor and retains discretion over the methods, tools, and scheduling used to fulfill the agreed deliverables. The Director is not an employee of the Chamber.

 

Reports to: Meagher County Chamber Board of Directors
